May 18, 2020 Victoria Day and a statutory holiday in Canada celebrated on the Monday preceding May 25 in every province and territory. It honours Queen Victoria’s birthday. We went for a road trip with my dad and my younger brother. Our first stop – Vulcan is a town in the Canadian Prairies of southern Alberta, Canada, within Vulcan County. It is located on Highway 23, midway between the cities of Calgary and Lethbridge. The population of the town was 1,917 in 2016.[3] Now known as the “Official Star Trek Capital of Canada”, Vulcan has a tourism building made to look like a landed space station, a statue of the original series Enterprise, and other Star Trek themed attractions. Our second stop – Little Bow Provincial Park is a provincial park located near the town of Vulcan and the village of Champion in Alberta, Canada. The park is situated at an elevation of 860 m (2,820 ft) and has a surface of 1.1 km2 (0.42 sq mi), on Travers Reservoir, an artificial lake formed on Little Bow River, a tributary of the Oldman River. The area is noted for recreational boating and fishing. The Little Bow Reservoir Provincial Recreation Area is an extension of the park. It was established on January 20, 1954 and is maintained by Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation.
